Got a focus?

February 18th, 2010

Not the car, life focus :-)

I’ve made this year a year of focus, focus on what I want personally and professionally and wonder if you’ve got a focus?

If you haven’t and you want one it’s easy to start today. Just give yourself some time to consider and think about what you want to focus on. Use headings like home, love, work, etc and I’d have one thing to focus on in each category. Make it positive!!

This is only a tiny step and the next step is visualisation, creating the things in advance and feeling as if you’ve got there or sneaked a peek and you love it! I use Vision Boards and I’m going to tell you why and how, next time.

Coaching to Nourish your Soul

February 17th, 2010

I wonder if you feel nourished in your mind, body and soul? I wonder if like many Women you search for a quick fix for your food issues and if you might just be ready for a life long solution finding inner peace and calm with your relationship with food and learn to nourish your Soul.

Answering such questions as:

Why do you eat?
Why do you choose particular foods?
How does food make you ‘really’ feel?

These questions are seldom answered because a diet pops up to distract you from looking any further but this could all change, if YOU choose it!

Food is something of a support system for many, it’s a friend, it’s a hug and it’s love. Let’s face it food is everywhere, totally reliable and easy to come by. So it stands to reason if you understand you and how you live and use food now, you can alter these habits. It’s wonderful to feel in control and to gain this deeper understanding, once you have the answers then food simply stops being the answer, you learn new skills, new ways of reacting and a new way of living with your food and feelings.

Coaching can offer an exceptional teacher, a trusted professional to help you explore change and set positive goals and to unconditionally support you through a special relationship of coach and client.

Do you deserve to…

Find the answers?
Ditch the diet and choose your personal Coach?
Make positive life long change?

I think you do!

Today we’ll move clouds, tomorrow mountains

February 4th, 2010

I can’t think of a better way to describe how the process of change and life improvement works. It’s the smallest change or step forward that matters. So from today think about the smallest steps forward, focus on what you have that’s good and want more of it. Think stepping stones

I’m going to be talking about life audits, eating disorders and creating a positive focus over the coming weeks and I’m really looking forward to sharing these things with welcome guests to my site.

If you’d like to see a subject covered in my blog, email me and see what happens :-)

Coaching for adult survivors of abuse and eating disorders

February 1st, 2010

Have you experienced abuse in childhood?

Have you used food or eating disorders to cope?

Are you ready to move forward into the light?

Reaching adulthood after childhood experience of any form of abuse takes immense courage and can be a painful and lonely journey, it’s one I’ve experienced. If you’ve developed an eating disorder, anorexia, bulimia, emotional eating or used food to cope with abuse, then you are not alone. Sadly it’s quite common for clients to tell me how they’ve held their ‘secrets’ for many years in fear of reprisals, that their disclosures will hurt their families or in fear that they wouldn’t be believed. How can they possibly expect anyone to understand the devastation, pain and hurt of something that happened years ago?

The truth is it often feels like the abuse is still happening, the mention of a name, a smell, photographs, family reunions, almost anything can trigger a flash back. It’s hardly suprising that survivors look for ways to cope with these distressing thoughts and feelings, however damaging these mechanisms may be. The good news is we’re talking about it now and there is professional help out there. I would always recommend you seek support with your journey to wellbeing and this can take the form of therapy/coaching or informative websites and helplines. If you’ve suffered any kind of abuse and subsequently developed an eating disorder or distress, you needn’t be alone and it may be you start the day by telling someone you trust about your ‘secret’. It’s a positive first step.

You can contact me to discuss your needs, your goals and how you want your life to be. Together we can move forward and away from the darkness. I’m empathetic and supportive, motivational and enthusiastic. I believe I offer something unique.

Fabulous woman!

December 2nd, 2009

Published on the counselling directory 2009…

I really don’t want to exclude anyone but yes you are a fabulous woman and you’re over 40!

Being over 40 can be fantastic. It’s a time in your life when you’ve made enough mistakes to learn something, you’ve lived in your skin long enough to understand something about yourself and how you tick.  You’ve been peacemaker, problem solver and a shoulder to cry on for far too many names to mention and perhaps produced some wonderful kids OR not had your own but been an inspiration to someone else’s. That’s just the start of it and now it’s your turn!

I want to celebrate the wonder of being a woman.  I want to help women see their potential and how the years can make them not only beautiful but intelligent and feminine. From getting more body confident, managing weight and body issues to re discovering their femininity and letting go of the ‘age issues’, it’s only numbers after all.

I’ve slipped off my therapy hat and developed Coaching  for women just like you. It’s aimed at the woman who tells me she’s ready to give to herself now,  what’s to change direction in life and perhaps gained weight and lost confidence. Maybe the career has taken over your life and you’ve somehow mislaid ‘YOU’ on the way.  Pre and post Menopause can bring about feelings of the loss of femininity and sexuality, it doesn’t have to be this way and you can love your years by becoming the woman you were destined to be.

Do you want to discover how fantastic you can be?

Do you want to let go, stop dieting and start really living?

Do you want to love your years?

What can you do to kick start the new you?

  • Give your wardrobe a once over –include a trusted friend maybe
  • Start a new make up bag – throw out the black eye liner!
  • Make new friends
  • Find a hobby
  • Learn to dance
  • Stop dieting
  • Get a full length mirror –stops you cutting yourself off at the neck or waist – women’s trouble spots
  • Change your hair style or colour
  • Get into nature, a good walk is great for the mind and the body
  • Write a book
  • Ditch the magazines that are crammed full of airbrushed images and get practical poultry or country life instead
  • Get some hens for your garden to go with your magazine – perhaps some ex bats from BHWT to give something back and keep you outdoors and fit!
  • Turn the breakfast and daytime TV off and get on the move
  • Try a new radio station

If nothing else I hope this makes you think about how you feel about your age and your outlook. If you think numbers and your heart sinks, it doesn’t have to be this way.
